From before birth children are connected to family, community, culture and place. Their earliest development and learning takes place through these relationships, particularly within families, who are children’s first and most influential educators’ (EYLF, 2009, p7).
Our infant program has been developed to introduce each child to a loving environment while following the routines that you have already set up for them at home. We believe that infants need to feel secure and a sense of belonging first in order to help them develop. Our babies in the Jellyfish room are introduced to social, physical and intellectual skills at various stages while taking in to consideration each child’s current abilities. This is achieved through fun filled activities and with lots of cuddles!
We believe children develop in their own times, therefore our programme is designed in a manner that helps us explore each child individually and skills they have acquired in a fun and nurturing environment. The programme includes activities that help children develop early friendships and co-operation skills. Each child is encouraged to listen and follow verbal directions through simple play and games. Our outdoor program is filled with fun to encourage each baby to develop physically. The program also promotes vocabulary growth through songs, stories, puppet shows and fun games and your child will be encouraged to begin to use words to communicate their needs and wants, and to recognise their name and familiar objects.
The babies love to explore their environment and this is when they begin to build their fundamental skills of trust and learn to form secure relationships with their educators. The Room itself is designed to help make the children feel comfortable, cared for and secure. The room has soft lighting and an engaging play area helping your child acquire skills required to start crawling, standing, walking and talking.
